Helena S.

Confusion is when I am just walking on the dark streets of an ancient city with intermittent flushes of strong winds staring at me. Sanity juggles its way through the winds when thoughts of you trickle down from my mind to the cortex of my heart, just to calm the distortion.

Okay....I am reliably informed that Helena is the name of the most gorgeous lady in the world. Obviously, her beauty accentuated by grace is undeniable. She is fun-to-be-with and literally delicious. Just give me a capsule of Helena and I can go the whole day without eating.

Helena , she is the polished royal bead which does not jiggle or wriggle. A steady forceful epitome of an Ideal Woman.

Helena, she is the rare Crystal found, at the heart of a man whose price cannot be measured. Dig into the world of incredibly expensive jewels in search for gemstones and you will find a unique one with a Helena lable.

The mystery lies in finding an honest woman who understands your ups and downs; a woman who is wildly creative and at the same time has a transparent heart of a Crystal. She is....

Helena, she is the lady who fills my wardrobe and shoe rack. She is a Giver and She will ‪#‎never‬ lack. To you, she is her, but, to me, She is an Emerald in the midst of emeralds. She is a woman of her own class.... and.... it's her birthday

Love Matters

Have you ever been in a ‪#‎relationship‬ where your best never was best enough for the other person?
💔
Anyway, whether broken or mended, betrayed or rejected, abused or misused... putting all the pieces together, this thing called ‪#‎love‬ barely makes meaning if someone is not willing to take a risk or a decision at the ‪#‎crossroads‬.

You know, while I was trying the gather the fragments of life, you showed up from nowhere and you told me how much you love me, I couldn't figure it out until you showed me your palm and the scars on your skull, The sight of it sent shivers down my spine. [Struck in AwE, I was really wondering if that was an accident].

For a moment, I couldn't shut the doors of my mouth. Then, you placed your hand on my cheek and whispered my name. Wuuu.... I suddenly melted and felt calm; slightly, I raised my chin and looked into your eyes and began to realise this whole love thing was & is real. Who knows? I may not have a second chance to tell you how much I #Love You too. It's not a‪ #‎long_distance‬ #relationship we both wanted. Was it? Oh! That's why you came closer & nearer [I see].‪#‎Thanksthough‬. But if I can tell the whole world how much you ‪#‎mean‬ to me now, then, they will understand why I can't take you off my mind.

Wait! Did you have to come all the way here just to prove your love? Omg! I'm sorry it took you so much pain and hatred just to die for me and the person reading this piece. No wonder Love makes sense today because you showed it a million times on the cross. Please help us to know the difference between choosing you and the people & things that pretend to love us. Help us keep our integrity and dignity as we make love sacrifices. Whisper into our ears when we feel like losing it. Mend our broken hearts; Bleach our scars...And teach us to know the real things that matter in life [Salvation].

A Walk With You will only strengthen our Love For You. Would you please do that for everyone?

Sorry! My bad! I forgot you did that already. Yeah! I saw that in the letter you wrote to us while you were on Earth [it's called Bible]. Hope to be like you when we meet you. My Ever-Glowing All-In-All, Your love is not an Imitation, it's simply Pure & Flawless. Calvary says it all.‪ #‎To_My_First_LOVE‬

Desperate Provision

 Posted by Joycelyn A. Annor-Antwi

I was wondering what was happening to her when she looked at my face totally lost in her thoughts. So, I waved my hand closely to her face and called her name - Mei!! In despair, she walked up the hill and placed the big white bowl with a pink cover she had bought, opened it up and left it behind and said to me, 'Let's go home'. I was very curious because as far as I was concerned nobody actually lived on that hill. Okay! 'What on earth is happening to Mei today' I silently asked myself. Kind of scared at her actions, I drew her attention to the fact that she was leaving the bowl behind. She pulled me away from the bowl as though it was a sacred family treasure. But it wasn't! After all, she just bought it from an online shop.

Mei and I walked in silence [guess she was also wondering what was wrong with me]. I was feeling very uncomfortable, so, I mustered courage and asked her why she was left the bowl behind. She just sighed and said, 'hmm.. Joy I'm so worried.' 'Obviously!' I said. She stopped walking and said, 'you don't understand. The weather will be changing very soon and it will be winter'. Like you would have done, I quickly said, "So what's your point? And how does the weather relate to the bowl you left behind?" She passionately said, 'The dogs up the hill don't have a pen and when the temperature gets cold, they may die.' In my mind, I said [but they are just dogs, so why stress yourself].

I wondered whether the dogs belonged to Mei because I had seen her a number of times feeding those dogs with breakfast during the days I used that street. You know, I knew this was the right opportunity to ask her whether the dogs were hers. Oh! Guess what? The dogs were not even hers, but, she was committed to feeding them each morning; 'desperately' providing them with a temporal hideout before the bad weather pulled its head.

Interestingly, it looked like some other persons I didn’t know, were dreaming about how to make these dogs feel comfortable in the changing season. I used the same road the next morning and saw two other ladies - one giving her bought morning breakfast to these dogs and her other friend was standing by. At the same time you could see other dogs passing by with their owners playing with them and giving them utmost attention.

You know what thrills me most? The next morning, I saw this dog house (picture below) at the top of the hill. I smiled and couldn’t help but take a picture of it. One dog came out as if it wanted to tell its story too.

The sight of the dog peeping its head from the pen made my morning. I couldn’t wait to ask Mei if she was the one who bought the dog house. Coincidentally, I met her the same afternoon and she told me she was also wondering who had bought the dog house.

I felt this was so beautiful and it's got me thinking for so long... The provision comes right on time when the weather gets bad. The food is provided each morning by people who never benefit from these dogs' protection. They just don't benefit from their investments but....

...In your case, it may not be morning breakfasts or a temporal bowl for a weather hideout – temporal provision. But it could be a permanent dog house, provided by someone you  least expected. Or better still, it could be your Creator making someone have insomnia  because you are in desperate need for an immediate provision. It's not too far from you.

Sometimes, we barely think we are cared for but I am not sure these dogs never thought they were going to have a brand new ‘apartment’ – a desperate provision.  These dogs had no idea how my friend, Mei, was worried about them. Oh! they were just roaming about in the morning and didn't know where food was going to come from.

But does it really matter? When your Creator spots you (of which He has), your despair will vanish into thin air and your location will change, Your meals will change and your perspectives will change too. Just don't give up yet. If the dogs could have a place to lay their heads in Winter, you will surely have desperate provisions for your despair. Just hold on tight and don't lose it.

FOCUS...

Posted by Joycelyn A. Annor-Antwi

We often hear in the speeches of successful people that before one can make it, there is a need for hard-work and funds. But wait a minute!

A photographer adjusts his/her camera to focus on a particular object until satisfied before taking a shot. If the image is not clear, the photographer strategically positions the part of the camera called focus to take the image clearly. That is just one aspect of focus. Focus is the state or quality of having or producing clear visual definition. It is also a condition in which one concentrates attention and energy.

Do you have so many things on you mind that have made you indecisive, and the indecision resulted in confusion? Relax! It’s Easy! I will guide you through three steps you can learn to focus better.

Step One:
PLAN
Before you can stay focused, you have to PLAN. Make a daily or routine TO-DO-LIST. List out four things you would want to achieve in a day. Have the first and the rest follow chronologically in order of significance. Planning with a TO-DO-LIST will help you set your priorities right and achieve your objectives daily. You can be busy with an activity without necessarily being productive. Activity and Productivity are not the same. That is why you need to PLAN.

Step Two:
IGNORE OR GET RID OF DISTRACTIONS.
Perhaps you want to further your education and there are people who are giving you 1000 and one reasons why you cannot read the program or be a success. Distractions may come externally in many forms. You can even be a distraction to yourself. Getting rid of or ignoring such distractions will be another bold step you need to take in order to stay focused.

Step Three:
AVOID NEGATIVITY
It is one thing ignoring people’s negative comments and it is another thing thinking positively. It may be easy to ignore external distractions but what about the battle of negativity you fight with yourself? Convince yourself, have a positive self-image, believe in your abilities, skills and potentials, remind yourself of past successes and these will help you fight against your internal negativity.

The Lion Tamer – Clyde Beatty
A story is told of a lion tamer called Clyde Beatty of Bainbridge, Ohio. As a teenager, he left home to join the circus and landed a job as a cage cleaner. In the years that followed, Beatty quickly progressed from a lowly cage boy to a popular entertainer.

Beatty became famous for his “fighting act” in which he would tame fierce wild animals. At one point, Beatty’s act included a segment where he brought lions, tigers, cougars, and hyenas into the circus ring all at once and tamed the entire group.
But here’s the most impressive feat of all…

In an era when the majority of lion tamers died in the ring, Beatty lived into his 60s. In the end, it was cancer that took his life, not a lion.

How did he manage to survive? Clyde Beatty was one of the first lion tamers to bring a chair into the circus ring.

We are told that, when a lion tamer holds a chair in front of the lion’s face, the lion tries to focus on all four legs of the chair at the same time. With its FOCUS divided, the lion becomes confused and is unsure about what to do next. When faced with so many options, the lion chooses to freeze and wait instead of attacking the man holding the chair.

How often do you find yourself in the same position as the lion?
How often do you have so many things you want to achieve at the same time, only to end up confused by all of the options in front of you and never make progress? Sometimes like the lion, instead of focusing on its target (the man holding the chair), we allow small things like the legs of a chair cause us to daze. We often allow smaller opportunities (legs of a chair) to take our attention rather than focusing on bigger opportunities (the man holding the chair).

I ask again, how often do we allow other things to blur our vision?

Ponder Quotes…
Tony Robins once said, “One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that, we never direct our FOCUS; we never CONCENTRATE our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.”

Stephen Covey, author of 7 Habbits of Highly Effective People also made this profound point. He said:
When you have too many top priorities, you effectively have no top priorities.”

It was said once that:
“No horse gets anywhere until he is harnessed.
No steam or gas ever drives anything until it is confined.
No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunnelled.
No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined.”
~ Henry Emerson Fosdick

And the brain behind iphone, Steve Jobs of blessed memory asserted that:
“People think focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully.”

In conclusion, watch this video about a runner called John Stephen Akwari. His story occurred forty years ago, when he attended the Mexico City Olympics at the age of 30.

Not long after the start of the marathon at the Mexico Olympics, Akhwari fell down and was badly injured, because he was not used to the climate of Central America. The other runners passed him one after another, and his chance of winning a medal became extremely slim. However, he didn't quit, and insisted on finishing the race.

When Akhwari limped into the stadium on bloody and bandaged legs an hour after the winner of the race had left, there were only a few spectators remaining in the stands. They were shocked to see Akhwari wincing with pain at every step toward the finish line, and they felt grateful to witness such a touching moment.

When asked why he didn't retire from the race, Akhwari's answer was calm and simple. "My country did not send me 5,000 miles away to start the race. They sent me 5,000 miles away to finish the race!" (20th October, 1968).

If you were John Stephen Ahwari, I am pretty sure you would have stopped running because whether you continued or not, nobody was going to give you a trophy for being the last and certainly, your country would have still paid you for participating in the race. But not Stephen Akwari, He had a target, he had a strong will power and he was focused to make it. Not to START but to FINISH.

Sometimes, we might have planned and stayed focused in the past but along the course, like Stephen Akwari, we were wounded by what others said about what we were focusing on, or perhaps the climate has not been good for us. Perhaps the challenges and the storms of life have made all the things around us blurred and we cannot even figure things out. But today, like John Stephen Akwari, make up your mind to finish the course, even if there is no trophy to be won, just STAY FOCUSED & FINISH THE RACE.

Finally, I would leave you with this acronym on FOCUS.

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail, so FOCUS!

Straight From My Diary

12 Things From My Diary...

1. Stop complaining about what you have. Start thinking about what you can do with what you have before you lose what you have.
2. It feels good to be in-charge; but are you in-charge because you want people to benefit or are you in-charge because you want to be recognized?

3. Appreciate people for not only what they give to you but put value into even the little things they give and the efforts and stress in giving that gift away. Be appreciative, that’s another way of showing love; is to make people feel accepted and valued.

4. What can you do about your past if you keep on worrying about it? NOTHING! The past no matter what you do still becomes past and gone. Learn to live everyday life, enjoy each brand new day, in that way you are being appreciative to God and to tell him to make your future better because you are content with his love and mercies each day.

5. Stop expecting overnight miracles from God. Learn to wait and be patient on Him. God deals with right timing. Music without right timing creates noise.

6. Pride is independent, self-sufficient, not being in need of anything and anybody. But God did not create us to be self-sufficient; but rather meek. (Job 33:17).

7. When God locates you, you cannot hide even if you want to. When he decides to show you to the whole world not even a bullet from the crowd can stop you from becoming the excellent person God wants you to be. Because it is your time! Excellence is the perfect will of God, which is nurtured and seen after so many years of nurturing and pruning.

8. When God gives a rainy weather, He needs you to plant so that He will water; if He gives you a dry season, He needs you to store and He will manage. Don’t manage when you are supposed to store-up neither should you water when you are supposed to plant. Simply don’t do God’s job for Him; just mind your own business and God will do His.

9. In good times, sow and invest and God will bless you with a bounty harvest. In bad times, store up your experiences for better days when you hardly reason or think before acting and God will help you manage that unbearable situation.

10. The darker the clouds, the brighter the stars. Strong little stars shine through thick dark clouds. If the CLOUD is BRIGHTER, the STARS canNOT be RECOGNIZED.  No matter the density of your cloud, be that LITTLE STAR and shine your way through.

11. Focus! It costs a lot to focus but it can cost you a lot if you don't focus!

12. When the right people come your way, the right ideas fall into play. Love me for WHO I am and like me for WHAT I am 'cz I will always be Who I am but not What I am.

Communication is Life

Verbal-and-non-verbal-communication-during-job-interviews.jpg

Wondering how the world was formed? People are of the view that the world came out of an explosion. Some scientists believe that too. But wait a moment! The religious persons also have a different view. If it was science, how do scientists bring out ideas and share them with each other to develop or invent that idea? Through which channel do they interact? How do they understand each other? How do they interpret what their fellow scientists share? How is the analysis made? How would they know that the other scientist is really sharing an idea of importance? How do they manage themselves to solve the identified problem?

If we should side with religion, what happened before the world came into being? Was it through science? Or a Deity? If it was through a Deity, what did the deity say? Was it a spoken word or an unspoken word? Oh! but that’s communication right there.
cartoon-science-communication.gifWe say Communication is the exchange of ideas- any idea at all. Once there is an exchange, it means COMMUNICATION has taken place.
Communication is Intentional & Unintentional
Communication is intentional and unintentional. Communication is life. It goes beyond what people perceive as the spoken word.
A typical example is when a regular customer gives an amount of money to a food vendor and without uttering a word, the food vendor dishes out the food to the regular customer. Obviously, this customer must have been buying food with the same amount over and over again. Although there was no spoken word, from the definition of communication, communication has taken place because there has been the exchange (money and food) between the food vendor and his/her regular customer.
another-example
Let’s take another example. What will be your reaction when you are talking to a friend and you see him/her lean forward to you [trying to close the gap between the two of you]? Instinctively you will lean back because you feel he or she is up to something *funny*. Your friend might not have said anything about his/her intentions but you feel that someway somehow, he/she is invading your personal space. Thus, without a spoken word, there has been an exchange of message [your friend leaning forward] and there has been a response from you [retreating because you feel unsecured]. This is called non-verbal communication.8031964903_9973d076fb.jpgCommunication is Life
So folks, you see, communication is life; it is not limited to spoken words… I know you remember the quote which says, ‘You are addressed by the way you dress’. Why would someone judge you for the way you have dressed?Let’s take a look at this scenario… You are an interviewer on a panel interviewing people for a managerial position for your company, you call for the next interviewee only to see a young man with his short pulled down, with a cap, wearing a black T-shirt with flip-flop. What would you ask him to do? Would you offer him a seat? or ask him out? If one of these young men appear on the panel, which of them would you hire? [without both saying a word]…  I am pretty sure your choice is as good as mine.

For all you know, the gentleman dressed in the black T-shirt may be qualified for the job but for his appearance. Although, he has not spoken a word, he has already been disqualified. Conversely, the gentleman neatly dressed may not be qualified. From this instance, it is observed that communication is not just about what we say consciously. It is also the way we unconsciously send out signals and messages without a spoken word. That's why Communication is said to be Life, because it cuts across all disciplines.
